Background
'Gamania' Gamania Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. (HK) is a Hong Kong online game operation agency, which head quarter is in Taiwan. There are total of 70 employees in Hong Kong branch. In 2012 Christmas, Gamania started to promote fair trade in their office, which educate the colleagues on fair trade. Moreover, staffs could also order fair trade products collectively as Christmas gifts.

Lung: Why would you like to promote fair trade? how do you achieve that?

Nikkio: 'Gamania' is an enterprise that wishes to bring contribution to the society. We strongly encourage our staff to participate charitable and social activities. A Christmas event is held annually. The responsible colleagues would like to add values to the event. Last year, we held bazaar which raise fund for the Africans.

Maggie: While we were thinking about the theme the annual party , a colleague mentioned Fair Circle and their Christmas gift sets. We agree with the value and decide to name our Christmas party as 'Your purchase brings Merry Christmas for others'. We would like our colleagues to learn the ideas behind gifts they bought and share the fair trade concept with their friends.
About a month before Christmas, the responsible colleagues started to explore Fair Circle website and forum for producers information of each product. They watched on YouTube and listened to a radio broadcast on 903. After further research about Fair Circle, they started prepare the event in details.

Before Christmas, we set up posters and banners to promote fair trade. Furthermore, there is a team of colleagues who explains the aims of this event in details to every colleague. In addition, we also held a fair trade quiz competition* in order to let our buddies absorb the information easily. There is an internal platform in 'Gamania' , which is not only for information sharing , but also a good media to raise questions related to fair trade and products.

Feedback
Maggie and Nikko think that the event was very successful. Compared to donations, collective buying let the public enjoy fair trade products which led to active participation. Many of the colleagues bought fair trade products as Christmas gifts. It serves as a perfect opportunity to share fair trade movement with friends and relatives by letting them know the meaningful stories behind the gifts

Cost Consideration
Lung: How do you consider the cost of promoting fair trade products?

Maggie: Collective buying is a good way to let our colleagues pick their own favorable items. The cost is very little. Instead ,we would need several devoted colleagues for co-ordination.

Nikko: We reserved a budget for this event. There is a committee member in each department who is responsible for welfare. They help organize the event. Furthermore, all the information we need on fair trade can be easily find on Fair Circle website. In addition, due to the promotion materials and user-friendly purchasing system provided by Fair Circle, our cost is greatly minimized.

Promote Fair Trade in Your Place
Social responsibility is the foundation for sustainable development of enterprises. Gamania Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. (HK) is an excellent demonstration which shows that capital and company scale do not matter in promoting fair trade.

It's beneficial to both the company's development and also team-building among colleagues. Most importantly, they support, promote, practice and develop fair trade.
